PLACE: Copernicus Center

Please note the
change of address
SPEAKER: Mr. Janusz Labedz
Mechanical Engineer - College Instructor
Well Done Technical Center
TOPIC: Advanced Technology Review
How to operate
and program CNC Machines
The Polish School of Programming the CNC Machines “Well Done Technical Center “(Dobra
Robota Technical Center) (www.WellDoneChicago.com)
was established in January 2006 (first graduates left our school in May 2006).
The setting of the school is “Melrose Mold & Machining” (Franklin Park.
IL). A part of the production facility was assigned to the school, where the
CNC machines and a computer stations were set up. A new formula for teaching courses in realistic production
settings allows students to overcome their fear of advanced technology and the
high demands of American industry. We
are as close to industry as possible...the school teaches a vocation from the
basic level, helps operators of traditional manual machines to update their skills to numerically controlled machines, as well
as offering advanced study courses that increase their professional qualifications. (Mastercam 3D, lathe-mille, multi axial
machine).
After completing the course in industrial training at the
Melrose Mold & Machining facility the graduates find jobs in businesses
friendly with the school. Instructors, Polish engineers with several years of
training in the USA, conduct classes in Polish, using English vocational
terminology. English and Polish textbooks are used; the library has the most
recent technical publications.
The first six graduates of the course Setting Up, Operation
and Programming CNC Machines already have found jobs. Graduates of the course
Mastercam 2D are starting the course Mastercam 3D. All who completed training at the school may continually use the
machine tools, computer center and school library, free of charge.
Janusz Labedz is a mechanical engineer with over 15 years experience as a machine tool designer, CNC programmer, manufacturing manager and Collage instructor. He is a founder and president of the Well Done Technical Center dedicated to training and advising manufacturing personnel on latest developments of CNC and CAD/CAM technology. Engineer Labedz received his BS and MS from Cracow University of Technology. He is a member of the Polish American Engineers Association in Chicago and Association of Manufacturing Engineers.
A business meeting will precede the technical presentation. Coffee and pastries will be served during the intermission.
PAEA PICNIC was a great success. It was a very hot day but we had a lot of fun. Outstanding entertainment was provided as in the past several years by Renee Pietrzyk Renee is a great human being, experienced actor, musician with fantastic sense of humor.
RALPH MODJESKI SCHOLARSHIP in the amount of $500 will be awarded at this meeting to the following three students: Paul Korczak – University of Illinois, Pawel Pilch – Illinois Institute of Technology and Stephen Plachta – University of Illinois.
ILLINOIS ENGINEERS HALL OF FAME (IEHOF). The five individuals below become the first inductees of the IEHOF:
John Bardeen. Electrical engineer; former University of Illinois professor; co-winner of two Nobel prizes in physics-- for the invention of the transistor, and for an explanation of the phenomenon of superconductivity, which enabled applications such as the Josephson junction.
Walter E. Hanson. Civil and structural engineer; former University of Illinois associate professor, co-author of a seminal reference on foundation engineering, and founder of Hanson Professional Services, a national consulting engineering firm with principal offices in Springfield, IL.
Fazlur R. Khan. Civil and structural engineer; former partner of the architectural and engineering firm of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill; primarily responsible for the innovative designs of the Sears Tower and the John Hancock Building in Chicago, which fostered a resurgence of skyscraper-building.
Henry W. Magnuski. Electrical engineer; former research executive at Motorola Inc., holder of some 30 patents relating to communications systems, responsible for seminal work in microwave and mobile communications.
Ralph Modjeski. Civil engineer; innovator in bridge design and structures, founder of an engineering firm (originally headquartered in Chicago) implementing such designs, moving spirit in the Western Society of Engineers in Chicago for many years, and 1931 winner of the Washington Award.
68th ANNUAL AWARDS BANQUET - Illinois Engineering Council, a celebration of excellence in engineering and allied technical fields that recognizes the contributions of our member societies to the public welfare. In the program: 1st Annual Illinois Engineering Hall of Fame Inductions and 15th Annual Engineering Achievement Awards. Keynote address will be delivered by Kathryn Gray. She is only the second woman to be national president of NSPE, is a past president of the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers, a civil engineering graduate of the University of Illinois, and a strong advocate of ethics and competency in the profession. Banquet will be held on October 6th, 2006 at the White Eagle Banquet Hall, 6839 N. Milwaukee Ave, Niles, IL. Reception 5:30 pm, Dinner and Program 7:00 pm. Cost $50/Person. Two engineers of Polish heritage will be inducted into the Illinois Engineering Hall of Fame and we should strife to have a strong representation of Polish engineers. We hope to reserve a several tables for members of PAEA.
Dr. RON WOLOSEWICZ did a tremendous amount of work in
preparing the necessary documentation for the Illinois Engineering Hall off
Fame (IEHOF), in preparing biographies of Mr. Magnuski and Ralph Modjeski that
required research of various sources Ron is one of the most active members of
PAEA. His father was one of the founders of our organization in 1934, and his
continuing interest, support and help in our activities are greatly
appreciated.
SPECIAL INVITATION is being extended to Polish engineers and technicians who recently came to Chicago.
Please
reserve the date of November 4th, 2006. We are planning our 72nd
Anniversary banquet on that date. As usual we will honor several outstanding
members of our organization. Banquet
will take place at the Embassy Suites in Deerfield, Illinois. More details will
be forthcoming in the near future.
